The Old World Traditions in the Heart of Texas

Valentino learned the art of Italian cuisine while working in the family business in Dallas, Texas, under the direction of Mario and Dino Smajli at Luigi’s Cafe. He also learned the traditions of from-scratch pizza-making from brothers Benito and Dino of the renowned Lover’s Pizza, also in Dallas.In 1995, Valentino met James Cole and they began a friendship that would later evolve into a business partnership.

In 2003, Valentino and James opened the first Valentino’s Italian Cafe in Fredericksburg, Texas. The Kerrville location was opened in 2004, and Boerne in 2009.
